Maggie Rogers released her third album, Don’t Forget Me, on Friday, and she announced a fall arena run to celebrate, along with a few much more intimate theater shows. The first of those happened at NYC’s Irving Plaza on Saturday (4/13). Tickets were sold the morning of the show starting at 10 AM, and were limited to in-person sales only at the box office, and to two tickets per customer. The line wrapped around a number of city blocks, and the first fans in it said they arrived around 11:30 PM on Friday night. Tickets for Irving ran out before they got through the whole line, but those in line were also given first go at tickets for the Madison Square Garden show in October (for cheaper than they’ll be online), and Maggie showed up early to greet fans, take selfies, and sell a few tickets herself in the box office.
Inside the venue, there was a pop-up photo booth station and a merch booth which sold copies of the new LP in all formats, as well as some limited edition t-shirts with artwork resembling the New York Knicks logo and a tote bag printed with the date of the show; those sold out pretty quickly.
Maggie and her band took the stage around 8:45 for a set that included all ten songs off the new album, starting with its first four songs in tracklist order, then diverging and including a few older songs, like “Fallingwater” and “That’s Where I Am.” Maggie also took requests from the crowd, including “Symphony,” “Back In My Body,” and “The Knife.” She alternated between playing guitar and singing, or just sticking with vocals backed by her excellent band, and at one point she hopped on the piano for “I Still Do.”
