Lame Drivers announce new album ‘Become an Island’ (listen to the title track)

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from NYC band Lame Drivers. Nearly a decade, in fact, but they’re back with their second album, Become an Island, which will be out June 28 via Bleeding Gold / Jigsaw Records.

The first taste from Become an Island is its ringing title track, an anthemic, jangly track that recalls the heyday of ’80s college radio. “‘Become an Island’ is the oldest song on our record, and the only one recorded at Rad Town,” say the band. “It was 2014. Avian flu was making headlines. I imagined what it would be like to quarantine. I was feeling like the internet might be more isolating than unifying. In 2020, we jammed online over JamKazam but it wasn’t the same… that year I dreamed of what it’d be like to return to live music, to ‘bait the virus / just for some fun.’” Listen below.

Lame Drivers play Brooklyn’s Hart Bar on April 13 with Fly Ashtray, Freaky Wilderness, and Famous Logs in History.
