Los Angeles duo Fake Dad create memorable and intoxicating musical releases. Their latest single entitled “Crybaby” is a bit of a musical turn from their last EP, with the new indie rock release taking influence from the likes of The Rolling Stones and PJ Harvey.
With “Crybaby”, the twosome explore relevant themes including the perils of social media, hyperindividualism, obsession with fame and attention. Lyrics showing this message include “I’m the real deal / This beautiful life in the Hollywood stars / I’ll never obtain it / But at least I can try.” Sonically, “CryBaby” begins with a driving and vibrant guitar riff and also features a hook driven chorus and combustible mix of ear pleasing rhythms. The duo have once again blended indie rock, alt pop and even dance-punk for a fun loving good time.
Fake Dad is the musical project of Andrea de Varona and Josh Ford. Formed in 2020 at a college party in East Village NY, the duo have quickly made a name for themselves with their infectious synth pop bangers.
