14 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

WATER FROM YOUR EYES – “WARM STORM” (GIANT SAND COVER)

Fire Records will release Sand Worms, a tribute to Giant Sand, later this year and they’ve shared this cover of “Warm Storm.” You can also check out Lily Konisberg’s take on “River” and Whitney K’s cover of “Happenstance.”

BILLY IDOL – “FLESH FOR FANTASY” (DEMO)

Some demos sound a lot like the finished product but this early version of Billy Idol hit “Flesh for Fantasy” sounds like an entirely different (and not as good) song. This is from the 40th anniversary edition of Rebel Yell that’s out April 26

FLYPAPER – “SEPARATE NOTHING”

flypaper, aka London-based singer-songwriter Rory Sear, will release new EP, another orbit, on May 10 via PNKSLM. “Separate Nothing” is pleasingly mopey.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND – “PEGGY-O” (GRATEFUL DEAD COVER ft. AMBER COFFMAN)

Noted jam band fans Vampire Weekend teamed up with Amber Coffman teamed up to put their own spin on a Grateful Dead staple, the traditional “Peggy-O.”

NO GOOD WITH SECRETS (OGBERT THE NERD) – “TURN BACK OVER”

Ogbert the Nerd’s Madison James also makes music as No Good With Secrets, and will release a new album titled Another Side on May 10. The first single is the catchy guitar rock of “Turn Back Over.”

POLO G – “CLOUDY SKY”

Chicago melodic drill giant Polo G has been rolling out singles ahead of a new album for a while, and we still don’t know most album details, but we did just get another great new track.

NARROW HEAD – “LOVE SICK” (CROWN OF THORNZ COVER)

Hardcore-adjacent grungegazers Narrow Head are putting out a deluxe edition of last year’s Moments of Clarity on May 3 via Run For Cover. It features remixes by Pictureplane, Lil Aaron, TRANS FX, and more, and this cover of a New York Hardcore classic.

SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY – “RED WINE AND DISCONTENT”

SeeYouSpaceCowboy have shared the latest taste of Coup De Grâce. We’ve also still got copies of our neon pink vinyl variant available.

NINGÚN HUMANO ES ILEGAL

Ningún Humano es Ilegal is a new screamo compilation from Star Rats Records (the title is Spanish for “No Human Is Illegal”) featuring Massa Nera, Vientre, Zeta, Quiet Fear, and more. All profits benefit El Refugio, “a non profit that helps immigrants detained at Stewart Detention Center in Georgia. Funds will go towards commissary accounts, books, plane and bus tickets for people being released, and financial assistance to families impacted by detention and deportation.”

DOG DATE – “NIRVANA”

NYC punks Dog Date’s new album Zinger comes out this week and here’s one last pre-release single. Read more here.

BONNY LIGHT HORSEMAN – “I KNOW YOU KNOW”

Bonny Light Horseman have announced a new double album, Keep Me On Your Mind/See You Free, along with this new single. Read more here.

CARIBOU – “HONEY”

Dan Snaith is back with his first new Caribou single in three years. “Honey” is a housey banger, peppered with wub-wub bass and signature Caribou-style vocal samples. Four Tet worked on the song’s arrangement, which Caribou has been playing at live sets for a while. The flamingo-filled video is pretty psychedelic.

MANDY, INDIANA – “IDEA IS BEST”

Just ahead of their Coachella appearance, UK group Mandy, Indiana released this new single which they say is the first they’ve ever written on the road.

GREG SAUNIER (DEERHOOF) – “GROW LIKE A PLANT”

Greg Saunier of Deerhoof has announced his debut solo album, We Sang, Therefore We Were, which will be out April 26 via Joyful Noise. The first single from the record is “Grow Like a Plant,” which is funky, skronky and glammy at the same time.
