11 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

JAMIE XX – “BADDY ON THE FLOOR” FEATURING HONEY DIJON

“Baddy on the Floor” has appeared in Jamie xx’s DJ sets for three years now but is only just getting an official release featuring Honey Dijon.

AGRICULTURE – “IN THE HOUSE OF ANGEL FLESH”

On Saturday, I caught Agriculture playing their first NYC show at TV Eye. It was packed, and, like with their recorded music, it saw them delivering intense black metal while also pushing the buttons of black metal purists. Today, they shared another new song from their upcoming Living Is Easy EP and it’s an intense track that does exactly that.

BABE REPORT – “TURTLE OF REAPER”

Chicago’s Babe Report were formed by former members of Yeesh, Geronimo!, and more, and their debut LP Did You Get Better comes out May 31 via Exploding In Sound. Lead single “Turtle of Reaper” is an old school punk-style ripper.

DRAKE – “PUSH UPS (DROP & GIVE ME 50)” (KENDRICK LAMAR & MORE DISS)

In case you haven’t been keeping up with all the A-list rap beef, Kendrick Lamar took shots at Drake and J. Cole on Future & Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” J. Cole fired back with a diss track that he since deleted and apologized for, and now a diss track leaked from Drake that’s largely aimed at Kendrick but also takes shots at Future, Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and Rick Ross.

MARTA DEL GRANDI – “THE BEST SEA”

Italian art-pop singer Marta Del Grandi has shared a new video for single “The Best Sea,” which comes just ahead of her EU tour. Of the song, Marta says, “It requires constant understanding to be able to sail the sea together, accepting to tune in to each other’s pace as it slows down or speeds up, finding balance.”

COLD CAVE – “SHADOW DANCE”

Cold Cave are back with their second single of 2024, coming exactly on month after “She Reigns Down.” The band describe “Shadow Dance” as “a Synth-Punk chant for apocalyptic lovers” and we couldn’t describe it better than that. New album on the way? Stay tuned.

BLUE HAWAII – “BELLY RING”

Braids’ Raphaelle Standell-Preston is releasing a new album as Blue Hawaii with Agor Cowan, Diamond Shovel, via Helix Records, and the latest single is “Belly Ring.” “We were heavily influenced by 2010s indie dance and hardstyle dance music,” they say.

LAIBACH – “OPUS DEI LIVE 1987-1989 PT. 1”

Laibach are reissuing their 1998 album Opus Dei in May and among the bonus tracks is this two-track single featuring “Leben heisst Leben (Opus Dei)” live from London, Queen Elizabeth Hall, 1987 and “F.I.A.T. (Let It Be)” live from Paris, Espace Ornano, 1992 and features their interpretation of Opus’ cod-reggae hit “Live is Life.”

BLUSHING – “SLYCE”

The third single from Austin shoegazers Blushing’s new album Sugarcoat is “Slyce,” which is swirling yet jagged.

RJD2 – “THROUGH IT ALL”

While much of RJD2’s new album Visions Out Of Limelight was inspired by classic TV themes, first single “Through It All” (ft Jamie Lidell) draws inspiration from Timbaland’s use of mouth sounds in his production.

WEYES BLOOD – “ANDROMEDA” (VIDEO)

Weyes Blood‘s Titanic Rising, BrooklynVegan’s #1 Album of 2019, turned five years old this month and to celebrate, Natalie Mering has shared the previously unseen video for album standout “Andromeda” that she says was “recently unearthed from a time capsule buried deep on a forgotten planet for the last five years.”
